Organizational Overview
KurrawongAI is a small, Australian-based data standards, Knowledge Graphs & AI company, founded in 2022. Many of our staff are ex-Computer Science researchers from Australia's federal research agency CSIRO with extensive experience in W3C, ISO and OGC standards development.
We offer specialist data standards creation & implementation consulting, IT systems design and software products & services to government and the mining and tech sector.
We frequently use AI to build KGs from disparate data sources and then use AI again to help people easily access and use the stored information. Our AI advantage is our skill in KG domain modelling which we have gained from years of experience with Semantic Web standards creation.
It allows us to ensure AI data processing and information presentation accord with domain best practices as encoded in standards and models.
Within KG modelling, our particular areas of skill are: combining spatial & Semantic Web data; street address databases, geology Knowledge Graphs; biodiversity modelling; Indigenous data and data cataloguing.
Scope of Standards Developing Activity
KurrawongAI develops Semantic Web versions of ISO standards within the ISO Technical Committee 211 where our staff lead the TC's Advisory Group 6 that is charged with this task. We are also editors of 191* series standards on Semantic Web + spatial data and addressing.
Our staff are also OGC partners that implement Semantic Web spatial data standards such as GeoSPARQL 1.1. We are also the lead designer of the OGC's Reference Data technical platform.
Within the W3C, our staff are currently involved in two Working Groups - Data Shapes, which we co-chair, and Dataset Exchange. We have 4 staff members currently editing standards in those groups.
KurrawongAI staff are members of Standards Australia within which we develop standards for national fundamental spatial data such as cadastral information (land titles), Place Naming, addressing and roads.
